Case of the Mondays
Its 12PM on Monday and my head hurts. After a week of 6AM flights, long nights and endless security lines, I was looking forward to a relaxing weeknd. Instead I got piss ass drunk both Friday and Saturday night, spent shitloads of cash buying Fernet shots, smoked a cigarette (I have been trying to quit and have been good for the past 5 weeks), and ate like a pig. Burrito and nachos Friday night after drinking, Pizza saturday night and suprisingly pizza again for lunch Sunday again.
I ended up crashing on the couch two of the nights, which insures I wake up with a cold and I wake up more tired than ever - I never get proper sleep on the couch. In fact I think I slept 5 hours on Friday and 5 hours on Saturday night. Super lame.
Oh yeah, I got yelled at by my boss because we recieved an email from a client at 10:30PM on a Friday night and I did not respond to him by 8AM Saturday morning. So my boss questioned my commitment to the job and wanted to make sure "I was on top of this". The timing of that could not have been worse, as we are in review/bonus season. The last thing I need is to give them a reason to dock my bonus. Lets face it, the only reason I am doing this job is for the $$.
I won't even talk about Cal and UCLA. I remember the game last year, where Yat, Trips, Deeps and I just got uber faded at Bears Liar and we killed the Bruins. This year was a bit different. I am glad I did not go down to the game, but FUCK! Cal really breaks my heart. This year I bled blue and gold. No matter how shitty things were at work, all I had to do was find one article on Cal or go to DeSean Jackson's website.
The OSU game killed me - after Riley tried to run it in and time ran out, I literally almost cried and could not move. The last time I cried was @ 5 years ago, was when I was telling a girl that I knew that I liked her, and she started crying because she said she thought of me as a friend, so I started crying. That is the level of pain I felt.
What I have forgotten is that CAL is not a football school yet. We are still the #1 Public University in the world with a pretty good football team. We can win big games but will lose "easy" games in such a heart-wrenching fashion, that we grow bitter. However next fall, the cycle will continue and we will still believe we are the Number 1 team in the nation, only to lose a "gimme" game. Don't get me wrong - I am still a Bear fan, but at times our team makes it extremely painful to be one.
I have talked to all my friends who went to the game and they said it was the worse walk of shame. UCLA fans are such bandwagon fans and ruthless. To make matters worse, both of my brother-in-laws are UCLA alums, so I am going to hear alot of shit talking in the next couple of months. All I can say back to them is "At least my school has two elements named after it." :)
Anyhow, I was recently sent this video and it made me laugh and forget my problems - South Indians are really the Rednecks of India
