“I am boy who likes to play”
My first experience with Hugh was when I was 6 to 7 years old. I went to get my haircut with my pops at on old school barbershop. You know the ones. The one with that striped shit outside, and 3 stools with 3 old guys cutting your hair. There were no women, no concept of rinsing your hair. No highlights. Old School shit. I think it cost $4.50 to cut my hair.
In any case one particular time at this barbershop changed my life. My dad was getting his haircut, and I was in the three seats facing them. Since there was no TV to watch Saturday morning cartoons, I looked for something to do. (Sat morn cartoons were the highlight of my week at that time. Cinnamon Toast Crunch and X-men = heaven.) In case you don’t know this, my dad has been bald for the as long as I remember. In any case, as my dad got his 5 hairs clipped, I looked to the side for anything to read. I was really into Boy’s life, which was a magazine that all Cub Scouts received. Yes. I am an Eagle Scout. Live with it.
Unfortunately he did not have any Boys Life. However he did have this magazine called Playboy. And I shit you not, as I remember this vividly, I thought…" Well, I am a boy. And I like to play. Lets see what’s inside." Now in my defense, I just saw the title and the cover was quite innocent, so I actually thought it could have been the modern day equivalent of Men’s Health. However, when I saw this girl I was in shock. Scary thing is I still remember the girl: an older blonde, lying in a bed in a revealing position with a leopard robe on. I was like "WOW!!" I quickly looked up and my dad was still in conversation with the barber.
As expected, I grabbed another one and enjoyed the visuals. I was literally playing with fire, cause I knew if my dad saw me with this, it would be over. My dad /parents were very conservative. They would forward through songs when we all watched Indian movies, if they thought the heroine was too racy. (For those who don’t know, back in the day, Indian movies were extremely conservative. No kissing/bikinis/nudity appeared in movies, yet my parents still found a way to censor these movies) However, I just found gold. While I escaped that day, needless to say, I told my friend VJ about this, and we tried to convince our parents to get us haircuts every other week.
Fast-forward 22 years:
Now I am not going to front that I have not seen porn since then. Every guy has. Once it went on BBS and we got a modem, it was on. 14.4K? we did not care. However, PB has always held a high regard in my mind. When I found that one of my good friends actually orders the magazine, I was in shock. It is not an issue of price. I guess for me it was just a status symbol.
Anyhow, two weeks ago, I made the plunge. I ordered Playboy TV for the apt. We have 24-hour playboy TV (channel 595). Now, for those of you wondering, it is relatively cheap - only 16 per month. However, I truly feel now like I have made it - I am truly living the dream now.
I might even get my Lakers "Suck it Easy" redone, and change the numbers from "00" and put up "595". When I get married, I can retire the jersey……….yeah right. There is no going back now.
