It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta

Today started off as a good day. Got a decent workout in, watched Sopranos and even stuck to my trainer’s diet and ate some steel-cut oatmeal with berries (none of that prepackaged shit). Though it tasted like ass, I did feel good afterwards. Then, I found out that a meeting I was preparing materials for actually had a European team focused on it as well. This meant less work for me, which is always a good thing.

Then, out of nowhere, my MD emails another associate and me to "catch up" and we roll to a phat lunch at Armani café. Done. What made the day even better was yesterday I got an email from Big Brothers saying that tickets for the upcoming Giants game were available. I called up my little bro's mom and asked if he was free - as it would be dick to take a date to the game with these tickets. Not only was he free, she offered to bring him to the game, which meant I did not have to roll to the projects to pick him up. I don’t mind the neighborhood, but it takes @ 15 minutes to get there. It was going to be a great day.

I went to the Big Brother office to pick up my tickets from this Indian girl named Neepa - she was the one who sent the original email. Though I only talked to her over the phone, she sounded hot, so ready to spit some game. She was actually pretty cute and working at a non-profit was an added benefit - I could never date another banker. Anyhow, long story short, game did not really develop this time. I got there and tried to have a conversation, but it was apparent she was in the middle of twenty different things. As I was leaving I noticed she gave me the tickets for tomorrow's day game, which obviously my little brother could not make.

I went back to her office and let her know the situation. She then questioned me and asked if I was sure. At this point, I was annoyed because I knew she fucked up and gave away my tickets already, which meant I would have to call and disappoint my little bro. I wanted to say "Bitch, of course I am sure", but given she was cute, so I was a bit more civil. As she was fumbling around her email to see who was right, I noticed a picture of a dude on her wall. Fuck me. I did a double take, and it turns out that this "dude" was a homie that I used to kick it with a couple years ago. Danny - one of Arnab's boys. Rather than leaving with a prospective date and tickets to the game tonight, I left with my homie's email address and tickets to tomorrow's day game, which chances are I won’t be able to roll to - start time is 12:35. What a day.

Post addendum:
Given the day was relatively light; I decided to roll to the game. Rather than asking one of my coworkers, I asked this girl who works in another group. Though she is engaged (there are no single girls in the group), I knew if I asked my coworkers, everyone in the group would find out in 5 minutes, including the staffer. I tell you, there is nothing that makes the workday go by faster than sitting in PAC-BELL Park (not Cingular Park, not SBC Park, not AT&T Park - PAC-BELL), with a beer and some garlic fries. We even sat in the lower level 10 rows up from the 3rd base line. As said in Office Space "Damn it feels to be a gangsta"
