Randomness
The last several weeks have been some of the best times in my life. A lot of weddings, bachelor parties, wakeboarding and banana boating, several trips to LA - I felt I have barely spent anytime in SF, which sometimes is a good thing, though I did manage to hit up the Union Street and North Beach Fair, which was awesome.
Napa Wedding #1: I got to attend a super phat wedding in Napa at the same place where Christina Aguilera got married. The wedding was a Southern style wedding, and the groom came out in a seersucker suit and all the ladies were wearing hats. Though it was a very super elegant event, all of us treated the open bar like alcohol was getting banned and drank to our liver's content. In the end, one person told a personal story that made Frank Quattrone EXTREMELY uncomfortable, 4 people booted, a guest who recently broke off her engagement hooked up with the bride's brother in front of her ex-fiance --- good times. Though there were no real single ladies for me, I got to dance with a couple grandmothers, which always is a treat.
Lakers Parade - What else went down in June? Well of course the Lakers won the motherfucking NBA championship. Ill be honest, it was super close and I was stressed every game. Game 4 was by far my favorite game to watch. In an effort to take advantage of the free time I decided to make a quick trip to LA for the parade. Since I am too cheap to fly last minute and hate driving alone, I picked up some people off craigslist. I got super lucky on the way down and had two hot Israeli girls to take down to LA.
The drive down was interesting - these girls have never been to the US but obviously were well versed in US pop culture. I had to correct their pronunciation many times of things, but we bonded over hip hop. I was more surprised that these girls were willing
to drive down with a stranger. I mean I am obviously harmless, but I could see a situation where this was dangerous. The funniest part was when I found these girls were staying in the OC, and wanted to see Hollywood, Venice and Disneyland - all while relying on public transportation. I did not have the heart to tell them how painful life in LA. Oh well they paid $60 to me to take them down. Its a win win.
The parade itself blew nuts. I mean I was super excited to celebrate the championship, but honestly the parade was not the place to do it. We woke up super early, took a bus to the stadium and waited for the Lakers to arrive. The stadium itself was like the Superdome during Katrina - there were no rules. Kalus were smoking cigs everywhere and the stadium felt like it was in a cloud of pot. The two kalus behind me had the phattest blunt I have ever seen. The only upside of this was that everyone was super high so there were not fights b/w the kalus and the cholos. I mean I am glad I came down and was pretty stoked that Neel decided to take a day off for this - but we both agreed that it was probably our last parade. I had come in 2002 when we had Shaq, who knew how to work a crowd. While our boys can play ball, they are surprisingly not that outgoing or entertaining. Well, with Ronnie joining the crew, maybe next year will be different

Yesterday was a surreal day for me as my mentor from Broadview came out of the closet to me. I am actually pretty happy for him, but he was the last guy I would ever think would be gay. We both used to hit up the strip clubs pretty often and would talk about girls non-stop. To be honest, he will be my first friend who is gay. I told him he could not be offended by my language, because I call everything that is dumb or lame "ghey". The funniest part was how it went down.
Friend: Hey G, its been awhile
G: yeah man how is it going?
Friend: Good man. I am in the city
G: We should meet up for drinks this week if you are free
Friend: Sounds good. When is the last time I saw your ass?
G: We got faded at Medjool three years ago?
Friend: Yeah that was awhile ago. Alot has changed.
G: To be fair, alot has changed for you..HBS, etc
Friend: Yeah Friend: Dating life has changed alot
G: Yeah mine is going aite. (In an attempt to change the focus off me, I totally jokingly said) Yeah man I heard you finally came out of the closet, you gay ass. Who is the lucky guy? Johnnycakes?
Friend: How did you know? Who told you?
G: Just kidding man. How is your dating life?
Friend: Yeah my dad wont talk to me - that is why I am in California.
G: Huh? what you talking about?
Friend: I am gay.
G: Ok, stop fucking with me. You got me.
Friend: I am being serious.
G: This is not funny man. You got me....
The rest of this conversation seriously was like "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT???" on my end. i could not tell if he was serious or just fucking with me. I ended up going to FB and verifying it. I also then texted a close friend of both of ours and confirmed it with her. I mean this guy is know to stretch a joke for days, but this time is serious. I felt happy for him because it always a tough thing to do, and felt awful that his dad had disowned him.
Crazy.
Back to back bachelor Parties: I had the good fortune to attend back to back bachelor parties. One was for Domes who I have known for 12 years. Besides having alot of the same classes at Cal, I have travelled to Australia, Europe, Mexico, India, Canada with this guy, I have lived with him for 3 years, and worked with him for one. The other guy was Dfry, one of the white frat boys who I am really tight with.
Domes was in Tahoe and Dfry's was in Denver. Now the #1 rule of the bachelor party is what goes on during the BP stays at the BP. So even though I have stories on end from Domes' party I got to respect that.
However, since none of the people who read this blog know Dfry, I feel at little more at liberty to tell you what went on. Dave's was defintiely much more crazy. There was skeet shooting with clay discs, where somehow I kicked everyone's ass and shot 41%, white water rafting, alot more girls, cops, tickets, DUI, a trip to the emergency room, a cracked back, tons of boat races, firebreathing whiskey into a camp fire and a crashed rental.
I recently watched the Hangover, and thought this party was crazier. If you want to hear more, you got to ask me in person. Here are some pics from that wknd.
